The Urban Outreach Committee of Occupy Sacramento will be holding its first Community Activist Conference on March 24th, from 9-4pm at the SEIU Local 1000 Hall (1325 S Street, Sacramento.)
This Conference will kick off a series of events and rallies organized by Occupy Sacramento and supporting organizations this Spring and Summer.
The theme of the conference: “What Do We Want, Why Do We Want It, and How Do We Get It?” The morning session of the Conference will consist of a panel presentation from various invited organizations, including, but not limited to, the Central Labor Council, the Justice Reform Coalition, the Sacramento Black Caucus, Peace Action, Veterans for Peace, Occupy Davis, Nation of Islam, Education Union (Los Rios), Sierra Club, Occupy Sacramento Foreclosure Action Team, SEIU Local 1000, and others.
These panelists will speak on the economic and political problems and issues facing the 99% and they will suggest how those problems should be addressed.
The afternoon session will consist of breakout sessions to get your input to the activities and focus of Occupy Sacramento. The Occupy Movement is on the rise and it will continue to influence the political discourse in this country where it concerns the injustices of the economic divide between the 99% and the 1%.
We invite you to attend this–our first citywide–Conference. Lunch will be provided, and we encourage you to bring other people with you. It will be a day of awareness building and networking.
Peace and Justice,
Urban Outreach Committee of Occupy Sacramento
