The Safe Ground Stake Down is a week-long campout (OCCUPY!) from May 1 (Wednesday) to May 8 at 12th and C, a vacant lot in downtown Sacramento. It is an ARTS EVENT. We are scheduling art projects, music, spoken word, poetry, and teach-ins/talk-abouts from 3 pm to 8 pm every day.
If you have talents or interest, this is an opportunity to bring your message or art or music to the grass roots. Of course donations too are appreciated. Or come and hang out. We will have snacks.
Each day has a different theme — Saturday is Home and Health, for example, and will focus on the movement against hunger…as well as against homelessness and poverty. Local congregations are serving dinner to the residents each night. So it will be a good place to find community.
