1 Item (presented by the Outreach Working Group) - Passed 8 to 0 to be placed on the agenda for the General Assembly on Saturday, December 17, 2011:
Motion to endorse and participate in Occupy the Courts on 1/20/2012 at the Federal Courthouse to mark the 2nd anniversary of Citzens United ruling. Idea was started by movetoamend.org (which we're not asking OS to endorse).
Report-Backs and Announcements and a bit from Soapbox:
Fego (with Food Working Group):
Not enough people to put up food tables, may be getting a rolling trailer to haul stuff soon.
Greg (with Library, under Education Committee):
Scott has been taking turns hosting the library, which has helped Greg a lot - THANKS SCOTT! Library won't go up tomorrow due to anticipated rain. Rather Greg will engage in planned march.
Tiffany (with Nonviolent Communication Committee and Facilitation Working Group):
Nonviolent Communication teach-ins are still Saturday at 3 pm; Facilitation teach-ins are still Sunday at 3 pm.
Brother Carter (with Urban Outreach Working Group):
1) PLEASE ATTEND NATIONAL BILL OF RIGHTS DAY MARCH TOMORROW - GATHER AT 11, LEAVE AT 11:30 AM - RAIN OR SHINE. They'll be speaking at the Capitol re the meaning of the day, and the National Defense Authorization Act. Please make and bring First Amendment oriented signs.
2) Don't get discouraged. Small drips make big puddles. We're keeping them guessing at City Hall.
3) We want the across-the-street presence resurrected. We've been told people there have to each have a sign, but the legal working group says the City is making that up.
Kathy (with the Foreclosures Working Group):
Still meeting Tuesdays at 2 pm. Looking for soon to be foreclosed homes to support them physically and hopefully will have an action next month as well.
Robert (with Action Working Group):
1) Announced and asked for feedback re intro to OS tri-fold his WG created, with input from other OS people. Cres has seen, others have seen, members of public he knows have seen, made some changes. NOTETAKER'S NOTE: Everyone present loved it (including Brother Carter and De, with related working groups). Brother Carter got SEIU lined up to make copies of it for tomorrow's march.
2) Go to www.the99declaration.org if you're interested in becoming a delegate to go to Philadelphia for July 4th convention and help edit/amend OWS list of grievances to make it into a proposal for Congress to consider.
Kirk:
1) Made a cart we can use to keep and bring tables from local storage unit - working with Fego on this project
2) Making a bike for power generation, meanwhile offering us use of deep sea battery (not sure got that right . . . ) for use for people to recharge laptops, etc.
