I. OLD BUSINESS
Mark Marin: circulate pledge for thosewilling to bearrested in a large number would not be likely to get arrested because of such large numbers. Pledge to come down here and submit to arrest with 1,000 other people. When 1,000 is hit, call goes out to those who pledged to come down on a set date and time.
Stack
Amanda: Are the repercussions of arrest listed in the petition?
Mark: no
Sean: will personally address everyone regarding legal problems at the time
ApriL: Has this been done at any other occupation
Mark No
Tiffan: Signing a pledge ahead of time, people want to know implications ahead of time, friendly amendment to include repercussions of arrest
Kirk: Could people be charged with conspiracy
Mark Conspiracy is agreement and an overt act separate from event itself to agree to subject yourself does not constitute separate offense of conspiracy
Darcy: Legal People should be mentioned in some respect, that you will get legal representation so that people know they aren’t alone, friendly amendment
Mark What we’e talking about is a show of support, that the numbers make a statement, wouldn’t have a lawyer per person, volunteer attourneys would step forward
Matt: It would be better to put a link on the pledge to an FAQ rather than extending the document itself
Matt: a set date already on the amendment would put pressure on city council, would allow people to get ready, 10th of November
Mark: Contrary to the concept, people will not be commiting to date until number is reached
VOTE if you would like this petition to be recognized by occupy sacto with amendments,
Motion passes
NEW BUSINESS FOR TOMORROW’S AGENDA
Joel: all existing committees draft bylaws and resolutions that describetheir jobs, how to become a part of it, etc, done by the 6th of November, new developing committees have to have bylaws drafed before committee can be proposed at GA
Tiffany: (POI) For committees they are called procedural rules
Joel: An example online to help other committees
Darcy: Q this applies to committees and not workgroups?
Joel: Yes
Motion carries, item is on agenda
NEW BUSINESS
Matt: Proposal – all committees meet openly and publicly twice a week at a predesignated space and time, in addition, each committee have a point person or liason to be a direct contact person for new members
Christina: Strategic logistics liason per committee already proposed by greg
Matt: at least two people with contact info so there is not one specific person
Darcy: Q Would this be an information person within each committee
STACK
POC – would require committees to publish whenever they meet
Matt- would like to have a time to interact with committees without hindering the normal committee operations
Tiffany: once a week to make it easier for those in committees
Matt: Will not take friendly amendment now – there’s going to have to be some process by which there is not one single person doing it allow more people to easily participate
Taylor Q would this have to be a designated person, or just anyone from the committee
Matt: Not as inviting as an actual meeting, 2 meetings is critical – it breaks it up to allow people to be here, could be a volunteer from committee, does not have to bethe same person doing all of the work , position could rotate
Christina: Lack of manpower
Matt: People could tap in and add man power, if there’s not a physical space that committees could meet up in twice a week to open
VOTE: Motion passes, item is on agenda
PROPOSAL
Matt: We don’t officiallyhave dialogue with city council after nov 1, occ sac doesn’t continue dialogue, people can still talk as individuals, but we don’tmeet with city council and the mayor, during park hours
