Strategy Building: May Day

Postby Sea » Fri Jan 27, 2024 8:24 am

BEGINNING MAY 1, 2024

NO WORK - NO SCHOOL - NO SHOPPING - NO BANKING - NO TRADING

THE PEOPLE OF THE PLANET WILL TAKE TO THE STREETS

#OLA & #OLB are calling on all people of the world to start planning NOW for a Global Strike. The goal is to shut down commerce worldwide and show the 1% we will not be taken for granted, we will not be silenced, WE WILL NOT MOVE until our grievances are redressed.

GENERAL STRIKE AND BOYCOTT CALLED!
FOR IM/MIGRANT RIGHTS
FOR ECONOMIC, SOCIAL, AND ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE AND LABOR RIGHTS
FOR PEACE WITH JUSTICE
FOR CIVIL LIBERTIES AND AN END TO THE POLICE STATE
FOR HOUSING, EDUCATION, AND HEALTH CARE AS HUMAN RIGHTS
FOR WOMEN'S RIGHTS AND GENDER EQUITY

Every continent, every country, every state, every city will stand up.

Labor and workers are under attack by the 1%. Occupy stands Immigrants and with Labor both organized and not. Unions and union rights are what made our working class strong. Every benefit we have as working people has come from the struggles of organized labor and immigrants fighting for their rights. Now they are trying to destroy our bargaining rights, they want their greedy hands on our pensions. They don't have enough already? ENOUGH.

A DAY FOR MIGRANT RIGHTS, LABOR RIGHTS, HUMAN RIGHTS.

STOP FORECLOSURES!!!

We demand good jobs and good pay for everyone on the planet. Citizen of the country they work in or not. Outsourcing will no longer be tolerated by the so called "job creators" for cheap labor. All human beings deserve a living wage.

Education, Housing and Healthcare are human rights NOT "entitlements."

ALL COUNTRIES PARTICIPATING: If you send me translation of this invite in your native language, I will create an event on this page to coincide with the English version. Please send to Tkukreja315@gmail.com

Strategy Building: May Day

Postby Sea » Mon Feb 06, 2024 11:35 am

Hi, All,
I still feel people haven't realized the power and cohesiveness that planning for May Day will accomplish. It is being discussed at UOC and connects us with the whole nation and other countries. The UOC's three day conference March 23, 24, and 25 that starts when West Coast activists converge on Sacramento on Fri to prevent more ecological destruction, is working towards May Day. And events in April (for example Earth Day) are being planned to keep us moving towards it. Its not too soon to start planning hard for an international Occupy event connected to Arab Spring.

Hey Ocean! If you are going to be at the May Day protest I'll be sure to be somewhere else. Frankly on May Day, I have no desire to once again see your childish and egocentric antics once again ruin another event.

In spite of all the distractions, its certainly not to early to plan for May Day. The 3-day UOC conference in March starts on Fri Mar 23 with a gathering of the tribes for an environmental face-off with the State agencies responsible for allowing our forests to be raped (clear cut). Then we have a social gathering Fri evening. It can start serious planning. Sat Mar 24 we confront each other in detail and learn what's up and bond with each other and another social gathering that evening. By the end of Sat we can decide what we want to do. Our concrete plans. Our overall strategy to be carried out in the months to follow. And we can plan the formal decisions to be made Sun. Sun Mar 25 we can have a brief plenary session in the morning and formalize plans and processes going forward. This can be the start of a "Port Huron Statement" process that may culminate with an announcement to the world on May Day.

If anyone is doing the CoC conference call or the Natl Strategy Planning conference call, or any other conference call, including the weekly occupy sacramento environmental conference call, talk this up. Email OSWGWHE@GMAIL.COM (Occupy Sacramento Working Group for Workers Health and the Environment) to share information on the calls and the planning.
