Regrouping

Postby Sea » Thu Jan 26, 2024 9:25 am

Hi, All,
I spoke to a bunch of people, and De said it should be called "Regrouping", so here is what I think is in the works.

A weekend strategy building event is trying to happen.

Media/communications has changed and has been announced at GAs and with that, the functionality of the GA the Forum (occupysac.com/speak) and the Website front page (occupysac.com) is going to be changed so that ideas and work — with the Full-Timers and on the street, in working groups and committees, and at the GA — will flow "bottom up" with lots of input and transparency, so that what is discussed verbally and on paper will be vetted on the Forum and then it will find its proper place on the Website front page.

Full-Timers are asking for help, and I am floating a plan to get them in to tents or have people take them home along with the valuable help many people are now doing to feed them and wash their clothes, etc. The plan involves organizing our equipment and library so the OccuCarts can be used to transport it. It also involves working with the Police to avoid clashes. Its an idea to unite and bond, to recognize all our functions with Full-Timers being in the heart, and those who have warm places can interact with them. It also involves distinguishing between who is an actual "Full-Timer", and who is there for other reasons.

Thanks for staying on top of the important issues Sea!! I really like the web idea, I think it makes sense to use this forum more to discuss things before they go out to the lists and media. :D

Thanks for staying on top of everything Sea! I have the trailer now and will work on a better way to lock it. Please let me know when we have a new spot downtown to keep it.

Regrouping, Equipment, Full-Timers, March UOC Conf.

Nathan, Thanks regarding the equipment update. You have a good steady head. I hope you and Tyler and Autumn can arrange for the Facebookers and the Forum Posters to meet on the Website.

I don't think there will be a solution to the trailer until we "regroup", or rather just plain actually group for the first time, for real, and not be divided by the original mistake of following OWS rules which when adopted no one had actually read and considered what adopting them meant. We now know that their method is good for antagonizing the police, but actually little else, because its not democratic, except in the sense that mob rule is democratic.

The UOC Conference on Mar 23, 24 and 25 is the time and place for us all to bond and make some important improvements in OS.

The quartermaster (equipment) functions problem — see Update on Storage and Equipment — and the negligence of the GA towards the Full-Timers — see Full-Timer Resolution — and the idea that the Finance committee doesn't engage in fund-raising — see the January 28 GA bruhaha — and the repeated obstructions put in the way of the actual "Outreach" committee which Brother Carter has always held down since September, all allude to this systemic still unsolved problem.

I will continue to support you in any way I can.

P.S. Regarding the website; I would help do some coding if that is the problem. I think the problem though is that you or Tyler or even Autumn might think that if you do something, someone will complain. I wish we could get past this because Occupy has barely got started and its "hit a wall". Let's make the UOC Mar 23, 24 and 25 conference totally dynamic and effective and functional, and let's really get this revolution going!
