Things are falling apart and getting worse day by day, I don't think you understand how disorganized everyone else is (besides you), and that things CAN and WILL get worse until we start addressing the most basic issues.

That flow chart you made was awesome, but I'd shit my pants if you actually get one person down at that park to think that far ahead and actually use your form.

My prediction: By March OS will either be organized/strategized already, or will fall apart completely. I'm trying to help Sea and some others to get the group organized, because everyone else just seems to delay and delay and delay...

Secret Meetings

Postby Sea » Sat Jan 28, 2024 5:37 am

Nathan,
Your right about problems. However Urban Outreach is moving ahead with plans for a community planning meeting on March 24 and I don't think that is too late. Its probably as early as possible. The meeting needs to have two days. Day one for bonding and day two for deciding.

Urban Outreach was intimidated from planning the second day because there are secret meetings with unannounced people who complained. At the last Urban Outreach meeting it was noted that a group headed by Cres won't cooperate with Urban Outreach on the planning meeting. And at the Media Steering meeting we attended, Cres tried to make that secret as well.

The planning forum needs a day of bonding and then a day of deciding. Urban Outreach
is willing to do this. Cres also complained about using the SEIU hall, which doesn't make sense. Secret meetings should stop. Let's have a friendly open successful planning weekend and end problems that Cres caused with the Green Party and that he continues to cause with other people active in Occupy Sacramento today.

Strategy Building: Urban Outreach

Postby Sea » Fri Feb 03, 2024 11:40 am

Hi, All,
The work that Urban Outreach is doing is critical to our success. Brother Carter has been the most effective organizer we have. let's turn the Conference in to a three day event. Day 1 is gathering the tribes from Oakland and beyond for a rally at the Capitol on Fri Mar 23. Day 2 is debriefing and meeting the community and airing ideas and bonding at the SEIU hall on Sat Mar 24. Day 3 is to decide on plans going forward.

HI All. I think Ocean is right. It needs to be a multi-day event. Let's make it a 4 day event. That we can devote the entire first day to mental health counseling for Ocean. That way we might actuallly be able to get something done on the other three days.

Bigger Fish to Fry.

Postby Sea » Sun Feb 12, 2024 3:46 pm

The future of Occupy may hinge on the success of Urban Outreach. OcSac generally, may not be mature enough to make March 24th in to an even bigger success — by expanding it to March 23 and March 25 — than the great Conference Brother Carter and Bakari and others are building now, anyway. The March 24th Conference promises to draw faith labor and ideological groups together. Yes! :) Thank you all UOC participants. Thank you Laura for starting this conversation. Thank you GA facilitators.

But there are bigger fish to fry if we can stop gossiping on Facebook and on private email lists, and stop holding private meetings. SeanT and SeanL and Tiffany and Darrell and Anne and many others do bangup work.

Once Sacramento starts to wake up — and if it does, then, and for which I will credit many people including the Full-Timers UOC Foreclosures NVC and OSWGWHE hard workers — we will have to revamp our GAs, virtually completely. We will have to plan logistics. We will have to raise money. As well as a host of other issues now being mismanaged. We're trying to do really good. But oh how far we have to go. And oh how hard it is! :(

Getting the facts straight is a good start. The strategy building forums are also great, but they are limited. Regardless they are a good idea and hopefully some good comes of it.

I don't use FaceBook. Most serious people don't that I know of.
It may be good for 'on-the-fly-running-from-the-cops' type of stuff.
But, that said, I'm just from Nevada, so that says it all. ;)
